My ne PT cruiser has this key with lock and unlock an panic buttons. There is a little coin battery inside it for power. It has to be replaced when it dies, even though that is somewhat infrequent. I was thinking it would never have to be replaced if you added a charging system that worked when it was in the ignition. This would lessen concerns with battery life and allow more features to be added to the remote key.
